ST. ANDREW’S CALENDAR OF EVENTS

  • Mon. Oct. 29:  Council meeting at 7:00 p.m.

  •  Sun. Nov. 4:  Anniversary Service will be celebrated.  Pot luck lunch to follow.

  •  Sun. Nov. 11:  The morning worship service will begin at

  • 10:00 a.m. in order that those of the congregation who wish may attend the public Remembrance Day Service at the Village Cenotaph at 11:00 a.m.

  •  Choir practice Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

  • Soup and sandwich luncheon, Wednesday’s at 12:00 noon.  Cost:  $3.00.

  •  Sat. Nov. 10:  UCW Soup and Sandwich Luncheon.  11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Adults $7.00, Children 5-12: $2.00, under 5: free.

UCW members are planning on making and selling tortiere’s as a fundraiser.  A poster will be available for people to sign their names to if interested.

During Advent season, a “mitten tree” will be placed in the sanctuary.  The congregation is asked to bring hand-knitted or purchased mittens, scarves or hats.  These items will be added to the tree and the contributions donated to the local Family Services to be distributed to those in need.

Fri. Nov. 2:  Calvin United Church, Pembroke, Bazaar and Chicken Pie Luncheon.  Bazaar and bake sale open at 10:15 am. Luncheon 11:00 to 1:30 p.m.  Tickets $10.

 

Mon. Nov. 5, 7:00 p.m.  John Sands Concert, Calvin United Church, Pembroke, Tickets, $10. At the door.

  • United Church Women (UCW) – meets on the first of the month at 7:00 p.m.
  • Prayer Group meets Wednesday mornings
  • Bible Study Group meets Thursday evenings
  • Community Kitchen Lunch every Wednesday at Noon.

  • New Community Services for Chalk River Residents

  • St. Andrew’s United Church has expanded our outreach to offer services to their expanding community. Community services include:
    • Community Kitchen Lunch Drop In on Wednesdays from 12:00 - 1:00; best homemade soup and sandwich for $3.00. Chatting up free of charge.
    • Pre-natal Nutrition Program on Thursdays
       
      The Killaloe Resource Centre under the guidance of Kim Mirault, in conjunction with FEN offers a Pre-natal Nutrition Program. Expecting moms and new moms meet to prepare lunch together and discuss topics regarding pregnancy and child birth. The group who meet from 12:00 - 1:30.     • Employment Counselor
      Beginning in November on Tuesdays from 1:00 - 4:00 we will have an employment counselor available on an appointment basis. Visiting counselor Barbara Klimas will assist with job search, resumes and cover letters. There will be a job board posted at the church. To book an appointment call Barb at 613-687-1717.
