The annual pancake breakfast is a function of "Maplefest" run by the Chalk River Lions Club. The Maplefest date this year is on Sunday, April 20/08 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is held on the property of the Petawawa Research Forest just off Highway #17, the TransCanada Highway.
April 26 Celebration of Hope - a Concert for African Grannies The Deep River Grannies are hosting a fund-raising concert on April 26 called "Celebration of Hope - a Concert for African Grannies". It will bring together the Deep River Choral Group and Cantandos with Ottawa’s Akpokli Drum and Dance Society and Cantiamo Girls Choir. The concert is being sponsored by the Rotary Club of North Renfrew and will be held in Childs Auditorium, Deep River. All proceeds to the Stephen Lewis Foundation, in support of African Grandmothers raising their HIV/AIDS orphaned grandchildren. For more information see www.drgrannies.ca
