The Canadian Clock Museum,
Deep River , Ontario
Collections: SNIDER CLOCKS STORY TOLD BY THE CANADIAN CLOCK MUSEUM
The Canadian Clock Museum in Deep River received a Community
Memories grant from Heritage Canada in 2007 to research and
write the history of Harry Snider's two Toronto-based clock
companies. Those family-operated businesses created hundreds of
designs and manufactured hundreds of thousands of mantel, TV
lamp (1950s), and wall clocks for sale across Canada between
1950 and 1976. Snider is best known for many dozens of wall
models in the 1960s/70s starburst style.
The Snider clocks story was prepared by Curator Allan Symons
with the assistance of Michael Snider, Harry's younger son.
Summer student Megan Morris photographed the museum's Snider
clocks in 2007. The story is now hosted on the Virtual Museum of
Canada (VMC) web site. There are five storylines and 239 images
in the Gallery, including pictures of all of the examples
currently in the museum's large and growing Snider collection.

In the English version, go down the options list in the
right-hand column to select Community Memories, then under
Explore at the left select Search for Exhibits. In that section
on the left search box put in "Snider clocks". Choose "The House
of Snider in Toronto - A Canadian Clocks Success Story
1950-1976" option.
Dozens of Snider clocks can be seen on exhibit at Canada's
only clock museum, 60 James Street. The museum can be found
