Gregory P. Lubimiv M.S.W., CACPT SupervisorA native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, . Greg Lubimiv holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Laurentian University and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto. He has worked as a social worker in the North-West Territories, a child welfare supervisor in Northern Ontario and, since 1981, he has been the Executive Director of The Phoenix Centre, a children's mental health centre in Eastern Ontario. The Phoenix Centre is well known as an innovative and dynamic agency which has initiated a number of popular programs such as The Friends and Neighbours Club Puppet Program and the Rethink Group Program for high risk youth and their parents. Greg is also involved with Invest In Kids, a national organization focused on improving the lives of children under 5. Here he has been participating in the creation of an innovative parenting program which starts in pregnancy and continues until the child is 2 years old. Greg developed expertise in the areas of family work, play therapy and creative interventions over his years of working with children and families. Being the third eldest of 10 children and father of five children provided a wealth of personal experience to draw up. In 1988, Greg obtained certification as a Child and Play Therapist and Play Therapist Supervisor from the Canadian association of Child and Play Therapy. He has since developed a wide range of workshop in the field of play and clinical therapy. Greg’s work has been recognized through his being a recipient of a number of awards, including the Liz Manson Award (Ontario, 2006) , Base Commander’s Commendation (Petawawa, 2007), Monica Herbert Award (CACPT Canada, 2002). Greg is the author of a number of publications including two books, Wings for Our Children, the essentials of becoming a play therapist, and My Sister Is An Angeline, a children’s book on the death of a sibling. As well as being a skilled and dynamic trainer Greg provides case and program consultation as well as Play Therapy Supervision to students achieving their play therapy certification with the Canadian Association of Child and Play Therapy. Greg also operates Transitions, a private practice, which provides a wide range of training and consultation services in relation to mental health as well as organizational and community issues. |
